To Be Vaccinated Or Not To Be Vaccinated
To decrease the risk of cervical cancer, teenage girls should be required to get the HPV Vaccine.
The HPV vaccine is a vaccine that has just been recently introduced into the medical world in the past three years, experts say that it will decreases the risk of cervical cancer in women if they are vaccinated during their teenage years. The question is: Should the government require girls at a certain age to recieve it?. Honestly, they should not have to forced or "required" to recieve the actual vaccine. The vaccine has not been out in the world long enough, so that side effects are seen. Sure, the commercials state the possible side effects but their could be way more out there that no one has the knowledge of. Being that I am a teenage girl and that I have recieved the vaccine myself I understand both sides of the argument. Girls should have the right to put into their bodies whatever they choose, and I do agree with that. My mother did encourage me to get the vaccing but at the end of the day I decided to have the vaccine. I took it as a percaution, and have not seen any negative side effects but like I stated before there are side effects out there that have not been discovered, and that it is most significant worry that have. It comes down to people's freedom, and it should girls' right to have the vaccine or not.

Silly Bandz: Becoming a Distraction in Schools
Silly Bandz which are basically colorful rubberbands have been banned in schools in the states of New York, Texas, and Massachusetts just to name a few. The reason behind the banning of the silly bandz, is that it is a major distraction when it comes to the students inside the classroom. Some teachers say that sometimes "scuffles ensue" because some of the kids are developing "buyer's remorse" when the silly bandz are sold on school grounds, the editorial states. However, taking away silly bandz won't cause the children to be less distracted; they are kids, they bounce back, they will find something else to obsess over. Yes, kids get into fights but what kid doesn't. Teachers can't just expect a kid not to be distracted, it happens naturally. Just like the text states, there have been many fads that have came and gone such as pokemon, and cabbage patch kids; so whose to say the removal of this fad will decrease daydreaming about the next time that a child will get to buy the next fad waiting to happen.
